2016 Lenten Season

During this Lenten Series there are a variety of opportunities offered either at our church or with other churches in our community. These include but may not be limited to the following.

  • Lenten Midweek community dinner and sacred conversations
  • World Day of Prayer is not directly related to Lent but it is a time for a community to gather for a service of prayer and remembrance with the service written each year by women from a different county. This year, it is from Cuba.
  • One Great Hour of Sharing Fish Banks.

WORSHIP AND PRAYER

Worship and Prayer are key elements of the life of Westminster Church. Information about our worship services are listed under the "Home" tab on the "CALENDAR OF THE COMING EVENTS" on the website. Additional information about this is in the church bulletin and the monthly newsletter.

Each month the newsletter concludes with a prayer for those in the church family who have birthdays that month and lists the birthdays for more specific individual prayer dates.

Also, the NEWSLETTER gives additional information about the Lay Liturgists for the month, the Liturgical Calendar and the Lectionary Readings for the month. At the end of each newsletter is the Praying Together This Month with a prayer for and a listing of the date and name of each person with a birthday that month. This way each person listed on this prayer calendar has a time focused by the church for prayer for that person.

Thedaily devotional "These Days" is available  to those interested. It is published on a quarterly basis. For each day, there is a topic, Scripture, a short devotional based upon the scripture, an Action Step and a short prayer. At the beginning of each quarterly devotional, there are suggestions for how to use the devotionals. Listed on the These Days page are the topic and daily Scripture verses for the devotions. These are included as encouragement to pursue this in more depth by using the devotional guide available at the back of the sanctuary.
