Decisions regarding recipients of Mission Fund offerings are made by the PW group with considerations related to international, national, and local needs.

The January 2016 Mission fund will be collected for Riverview Center in Dubuque. Riverview Center is an organization serving sexual assault and domestic violence victims. This is the only provider of those services in the area. The State of Illinois budget impasse virtually eliminated domestic violence servies and significantly reduced sexual assualt services. Please donate to this mission fund to help the most vulnerable victims among us.

|FEBRUARY||ROSECRANCE HEALTH NETWORK|
The February mission fund will be collected for Rosecrance Health Network in Rockford. Rosecrance offers a therapeutic recreational program that prioritizes fitness, meditation, and art as a part of a daily treatment for ciients with addictions and mental health problems. Help those people that are serious about regaining their mental health.
|MARCH||LIVING WATERS for the WORLD|
The March mission fund will be collected for Living Waters for the World. This is a program of the Presbyterian Church (USA) that installs water systems in poor countries that cannot access sustainable clean water for their drinking, cooking and bathing needs. Your donation will provide poor communities with long-term access to clean water.
|APRIL||STRONGHOLD CAMP & RETREAT CENTER|
Stronghold Center is a four-season retreat and camping center, operated by the Presbytery of Blackhawk, Presbyterian Church (USA). Our facilities include wilderness cabins, a camping area, dining and meeting rooms, and seven retreat houses able to accommodate 6-56 guests. Located in Oregon, IL, the beauty of nature exists in a variety of environments, all along bluffs overlooking the Rock River.

|JULY||APPLE TREE PROJECT||The Apple Tree Project is Galena based to provide school supplies for needy children. Originally, this project was done by just the Westminster Church but for the last few years we have partnered with other first St. Michael's Church and then St. Michael's and Lord of Love church. Plans for 2016 have not been finalized yet. Updates will be posted when available. For information about past years projects go to the Apple Tree Project page on this website.|

2016 River Ridge Finnish Foreign Exchange Student Presentation
The Rotary foreign exchange student, Alpa Kuvaja, who attends school at River Ridge, gave a presentation on his country of Finland, on Sunday, February 21, at 1 p.m. There were thirteen individuals present. Cookies, tea and coffee were served following his presentation. P.W. gave him a booklet, “Views of Our Historic District, Galena, Illinois.”
After refreshments, our regular meeting was called to order by Moderator Pam McKinsey, with a short story. The following were present: Isobel Bell, Helen Carroll, Eileen Henrichs, Karen Lenstra, Bev Mellskog, Pam McKinsey, Fran Rosenthal, Lydia Zaya, and guest, Billie Nolan.
Minutes of the December meeting and Treasurer’s reports were approved as printed.
